Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye has been reported dead on Friday after battling illness, according to Burkina Faso online portal Burkina 24.

The former Burkinabe international died in his native country after he was hospitalized at the beginning of the year.

The 38 year old graced the Ghana Premier League a decade ago where he established himself as one of the best foreign imports.

Two years ago, he featured for Hearts of Oak and he will be remembered for his howler that caused the Phobians the three points in a Premier League fixture against Kotoko.

He was the third choice goalkeeper for Burkina Faso at the 1998 African Cup of Nations (CAN) in Burkina Faso. Soulama Abdoulaye won silver medal at the 2013 CAN in South Africa under Paul Put.

Soulama Abdoulaye won four Ghana Premier League titles with Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
