Former Ivory Coast manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away at age 76 after battling pancreatic cancer.

Bo Gustavsson, an agent in Sweden who worked with Sven, confirmed his passing in a statement released on Monday, August 26, 2024.

"Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away. After a long illness, SGE died during the morning at home surrounded by family," he wrote, as shared by football writer Henry Winter on X (formerly Twitter).

The former England manager is regarded as the greatest Swedish coach ever and one of the most revered coaches in football history after his renowned coaching career.

He managed 16 different teams, including national teams. Notable teams he managed include England, Ivory Coast, Manchester City, Lazio, Benfica, Fiorentina, Roma, Leicester City, and Mexico.

He won most of his laurels during his spells with Benfica and Lazio. At Benfica, where he had two different stints, he won three league titles, the European Cup, the UEFA Cup, one League Cup, and the Portuguese Super Cup.

At Lazio, he won Serie A, two Coppa Italia titles, two Supercoppa Italiana titles, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.
