Sudan's assistant coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu has taken up a new role with Al Merriekh's technical team ahead of the upcoming Value Jet Cup, scheduled from July 24 to August 31 at Remo Stars' home ground in Nigeria.

Osei-Fosu, who also assists Kwesi Appiah in the Sudanese national team, views this opportunity as a dual mission—to support Al Merriekh and scout potential talents for Sudan's bid to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Ghanaian coach's move coincides with the international football break, enabling him to dedicate time to club responsibilities while identifying players capable of making an impact on the global stage.

Al Merriekh, one of four confirmed participants alongside Shooting Stars, Remo Stars, and Kwara United, has already arrived in Ikenne, Ogun State, preparing for the competitive tournament.

Other teams expected to finalize their participation include Rangers International, Abia Warriors, Ikorodu City, and former NPFL champions Rivers United, promising an exhilarating and fiercely contested edition of the Value Jet Cup.
