A former captain of the senior national team, the Black Stars, Emmanuel kwasi Quarshie is bedridden with what is deemed to be cancer of the throat.
The wife of Quarshie told the media in Takoradi on Tuesday that her husband had been battling with the disease for almost a year now without finding a cure to it.
She said the family had spent over GH¢15,000 on her husband’s medical expenses and is therefore appealing to the government and other well-meaning Ghanaians to come to their aide to save the former player.
She said her husband finds it extremely difficult to talk and even eat, and has to be assisted to even take in his meals.
Quarshie was the captain of the Black Stars when Ghana won its last Africa Nation’s Cup in Libya in 1982.**
