My Story Foundation Charity Gala, a football competition seeking to raise funds to support the needy has been launched in Kumasi.
The programme, being organized under the auspices of “My Story Foundation”, a non-governmental organization (NGO), would see substantial number of radio stations converge at the Baba Yara Stadium on May 1, to engage in a football competition. At stake is a giant trophy.
Collins Amo Poku, Founder of the NGO, told the GNA Sports on the sidelines of the launch that, the idea was to support a project which aims to mobilize resources to pay for medical care and other expenses of some physically-challenged persons who need to undergo surgery to correct various forms of deformities in their bodies.
Poku hinted that funds realized from the gala competition would also be used to initiate a project dubbed “My Story Village”, which is intended to be constructed to house a school, hospital and orphanage.
Currently, the Foundation is taking care of more than 100 needy people, including children who are receiving various forms of support, ranging from shelter, payment of school fees, medical care, among others.
