Sunyani, (B/A) July 25, GNA – Four football clubs in Zone “A” of the Brong Ahafo Region Second Division have qualified for the forthcoming Regional super-Middle League to be played at the Coronation Park, Sunyani next month.
They are Sampa United, Japekrom Mpuasuman F/C, Wamanafo Asuowam F/C and Dormaa Kyenkyenkye F/C
The four Clubs gained their qualification through a two-day regional sub-middle league qualifier staged at the Park early this month.
Meanwhile two teams in Zone “B”, Sunyani Liberty F/C and Kenyasi F.C. Porto, have already booked tickets for the super-Middle League following their performance in the sub-middle league at the Coronation Park held on July 23 and 24 this year.
Kenyasi Porto’s qualification followed a decision by the Regional Disciplinary Committee on a protest filed by Sunyani Liberty against Bomaa FC for fielding an unqualified player, Emmanuel Adu Yeboah.
Liberty who topped the League table beat Bechem Youngsters 1-0 in an opening match in the all-play-all elimination clashes.
The Sunyani side, however, bowed 0-1 to Bomaa F/C in the second round of the competition but put up extra effort to beat Kenyasi Porto 1-0 in the final match of the competition.
Meanwhile the Regional Football Association is awaiting the outcome of an appeal filed by Hwidiem F/C to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) against its Disciplinary Committee’s decision to declare F.C. Porto winners in the “zone 9” preliminary series played at Hwidiem about a month ago before it would declare the other winners in zone 2 ‘B” to join their colleagues in the group for the supper-middle league in August.
The bone of contention was that even though Hwidiem FC, the home team, won their match 1-0, F.C. Porto later filed a protest against an alleged unqualified player of the home team which the Regional Disciplinary Committee endorsed on behalf of the Kenyasi team.
Mr Kwabena Munufie, a spokesperson for the RFA told GNA Sports in Sunyani on Monday that the super-middle League would determine the promotion of one team out of the eight contestants to the National First Division 2011-2012 football league.
