Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, is set to name his squad for the remaining games in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Many have urged the coach to include a large number of local players in the list, given the Black Stars' slim odds of qualifying for the AFCON tournament.

Ghana have two points after four games in the qualifiers, having lost two and drawn two.

The Black Stars are determined to win their final two games, but a draw for Sudan in any of their games would render Ghana's fixtures a formality, sealing the West African team's elimination from the qualifiers.

Therefore, Otto Addo could use the games as a platform for some players in the Ghana Premier League to stake a claim for a place in the team.

Here are four local players who could earn Black Stars call-ups for the upcoming games

Stephen Amankona

Berekum Chelsea forward, Stephen Amankona, has rediscovered his form after an unsuccessful spell at Asante Kotoko.

The striker has scored 3 goals so far, making him the highest-scoring player at Chelsea.

Fredrick Asare

Asante Kotoko goalie, Frederick Asare, is the third-choice goalie for the Black Stars and has been with the team for a while now.

Hence, his place in the squad appears to be secured.

Isaac Afful

Samartex left-back, Isaac Afful, has been one of the best defenders in the Ghana Premier League this season.

He earned his debut Black Stars call-up for the doubleheader against Sudan and could retain his place for the final matches.

Kelvin Osei Asibey

Hearts of Oak centre-back, Kelvin Osei Asibey, is having a tremendous season with the Phobians.

He has kept five clean sheets in nine games this season.
