Former Malian international, Frederic Kanoute, has tipped Inaki Williams to make the shortlist of Africa's best players for the 2023/24 season.

Inaki Williams had a fantastic season with Athletic Club, winning the Copa del Rey. The forward scored 14 goals and provided 5 assists in a total of 39 matches played.

Kanoute, a former Sevilla forward, believes Inaki's contributions to Athletic Club cannot be overlooked when it comes to naming the best African player of the season.

The 2007 CAF African Best Player disclosed that the Ghanaian striker is in the same class as Mohamed Salah and Ademola Lookman on the African continent.

"It's difficult for me to give a name because Inaki Williams did well and had a fantastic season at Athletic," he told 3Sports.

He added, "Maybe I will say Lookman, Salah, and Williams."

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen won the CAF African Best Player of the Year award in 2023.
