French football star Wissam Ben Yedder has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in his car.
According to a ruling by the Nice Criminal Court on Tuesday, November 14, 2024, Ben Yedder will serve a two-year suspended sentence.
The court ordered him to pay €6,500 (€5,000 for moral damages and €1,500 in legal costs) as compensation, as well as suspending his driver's license for six months.
The victim filed a lawsuit against the footballer in September following the incident on the French Riviera in Monaco, France.
A report by RMC Sport indicates that the footballer was also fined €5,000 for failing to stop his car during his arrest.
During the trial, the player admitted he was highly intoxicated and could not recall if he sexually assaulted the victim.
Wissam Ben Yedder is currently unattached after leaving AS Monaco in 2023, following the expiration of his contract with the French club.
According to RMC Sport, he is also currently under investigation for allegedly raping a woman in the summer of 2023.
RMC further reports that the striker faces a divorce trial at the end of 2024, where he has been charged with alleged psychological violence against his wife.
