Maurice Ampaw, lawyer for Sarah Kwablah— the 22-year-old undergraduate student who accused Captain Asamoah Gyan of raping her— has come under scathing verbal attacks from a group calling itself Friends of Asamoah Gyan.

At a press release organised by the group at Wenchi in the Brong Ahafo Region, the hometown of Asamaoh Gyan, the group warned Maurice Ampaw to stay clear away from Asamoah Gyan “because it has become crystal clear that the lawyer has colluded with Sarah Kwablah to disgrace the captain of the Black Stars.”

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE in an exclusive interview, the chairman of the group, Kwame Saarah Mensah, mentioned that the group will not look on unconcerned whilst Asamaoh Gyan’s reputation is being dragged in the mud.

According to Mr Mensah, blackmailing Asamoah will not serve any good to any Ghanaian, and as such Maurice Ampaw should stay clear from such tendencies “since there are so many ways of making money as a lawyer than following such unsubstantiated allegation simply because the blackmailer has money to pay for a legal battle.”

He warned that if Maurice Ampaw continues to harass the Black Stars’ captain for his parochial interest, the group will get down in the gutter to prove to the radio lawyer that “if he thinks we do not have any teeth, he should look at our teeth.”

Secretary of the group, John Donyina, mentioned that Asamoah Gyan still remains as Africa’s leading scorer of goals in FIFA World Cup history, and there is nothing Maurice Ampaw can do about that.

He continued that apart from Asamoah Gyan’s his philanthropic gesture, the player has also contributed his quota meaningfully towards the development of Ghana as a nation through football.
