Frimpong denies turning Gattuso and OFI Crete down

Emmanuel Frimpong has denied turning down the opportunity to team up with Gennaro Gattuso at OFI Crete.

Earlier on Tuesday, UK newspaper Daily Mail published that he had turned down the opportunity to play for the Greek outfit, coached by 2006 World Cup winner Gattuso.

Reacting on social media network Twitter, Frimpong noted that he has, contrary to the story, not turned down the opportunity to work with Gattuso, whom he says can help him.

“Just would like to say that I have not turned down a chance to work with Gattuso. He's a manager who can help me as he has played in my position before.”

Frimpong also noted that he has offers from at least three clubs, adding that he is taking his time before deciding where to play next.

“I am in no rush to make a move. I have three or four teams and I will be announcing where I will be playing next season in a couple of weeks.”

The former Arsenal midfielder is currently without a club following his release from Barnsley at the end of last season.

But he was offered a 12-month deal at the Greek club, who are managed by AC Milan hero Gattuso.

The 22-year-old, who helped establish popular clothing brand Dench alongside UK rapper Lethal Bizzle, has also recently failed to agree a contract at Strum Graz.

The midfielder had a three-week trial at Austrian club but couldn’t agree on a contract.

Frimpong has been capped once for Ghana.
