G8 Tourney: Ruthless Medeama breeze into semis after dominating win over Hearts

Medeama SC were in devastating form against Hearts of Oak at the Cape Coast Stadium on Wednesday.

The Tarkwa-based club recorded an impressive 2-0 win against the Phobians to become the first team to book their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing G8 tournament.

It took only 15mins on the clock for Kwame Boateng to break the deadlock for the free-scoring Medeama with an easy tap-in.

Agyenim Boateng doubled the lead for the Mauves and Yellow after some horrendous defending by Akrofi in the 22nd minute.

The only dark spot on Medeama’s brilliant first-half display was two forced changes as a result of injuries to Justice Blay and Ali Quattara.

The second half was a case of game management for Medeama as Hearts struggled to break them down. Frank Nutall simply had no answers to Coach Samuel Boadu’s tactical masterclass.

Medeama will take on Karela United next as they look to wrap up top spot in Group B while Hearts of Oak’s qualification to the knock out phase hangs in the balance when they come up against Dwarfs.
