The board of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) meets today to review the verdict of the national super lightweight title fight between Moro Tijani and Isaac Quartey.
Tijani, managed by Alhaji Toffik, one of the promoters of the bill, won the bout and the title fought in the early hours of Saturday, February 28, by a unanimous decision. But boos and abuses greeted the decision and forced an announcement by the Sanctioning Committee of the GBA to the effect that the judges? decision would be reviewed by the authority.
That announcement nearly marred the last bout for the bill when the referees and judges threatened to boycott the fight because their integrity had been challenged. The fight commissioner has already submitted his report to the GBA, and it is expected to form a core point in the review process when the GBA board meets this afternoon.
In the fight itself, jointly promoted by the Dade and Ambitions Promotions, Quartey floored his opponent twice in the eighth and ninth rounds after cutting him on one eye in the second round.
