GBFA President excited with performance at 2019 IFBB World Championship

President of the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association, Hay Yartey President of the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association, Hay Yartey

The President of the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA), Hay Yartey has revealed his satisfaction with the performance of his athletes at the just ended IFBB World Championship in Dubai.

Despite failing to win a medal, the athletes managed to finish in respectable positions and Hay Yartey is impressed.

Speaking to the press on their arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, Hay Yartey said that the team exceeded expectations.

“Everything went well and we met our expectations. Before we left Ghana, all I was saying was that it is the very first time Ghana was going to compete at the world stage so for us we were not too much into the award stuff. But we were into the experience the athletes will get for being on the world stage”.

“By the grace of God, we’ve been on the African stage six times, Arnold Classics too we’ve been there five times so we had the experience. This year too we went with 9 athletes and 8 won medals so in Africa they know us but going on the world stage all we wanted is experience and exposure. But even that we were received well and Congress treated us well and the athletes got their respective division”.

He also appealed for support for their upcoming events.

“Every time we on are on the international stage, we fly high the flag of Ghana but we are not recognized. Even SWAG does not recognize us. The Sports Ministry and NSA also don’t support us. I think it’s high time we are given our share of the national cake”.
