GFA Capo Attacks NPP Running Mate Report

Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has launched a scathing attack on a newspaper publication claiming he is being considered as a running mate for opposition NPP.

The Ghana FA boss says it is the latest ‘wicked attempt by the editor of the newspaper Dan Kweku Yeboah to divide opinion’ about him.

The Captivating Sports Newspaper reported on Thursday that Nana Akuffo Addo will put Nyantakyi’s name forward to fight the ruling NDC. Nyantakyi insists he is not a member of any political party adding the article is calculated to draw the ire of the ruling NDC against him.

“I wish to state categorically that, that article has no iota of truth in it. It is the latest wicked attempt by the editor of the newspaper Dan Kweku Yeboah to divide opinion about me,” Nyantakyi said. “Over the past months he has embarked on a devious campaign and agenda to make me and the Ghana Football Association unpopular by making false claims about me in the media.

“In all he has failed so he has taken to the desperate route of politics to continue on his agenda of trying to divide opinion about me and the GFA.

“He knows the political field is a minefield and he wants to take me there to achieve his long-standing aim of dividing opinion about me.

“I want to assure Ghanaians that I am only interested in football and the betterment of Ghana football so that we can bring honour and joy to the people of Ghana.

“I am not a member of any political party and I am not interested in getting into politics. I am fully concentrating on serving Ghana through football.”

Nyantakyi recounted the series of articles over the past weeks he claims has been published by the newspaper to make him unpopular.

“The calculated lies about me from the newspaper and its editor are many,” Nyantakyi said.

“From claiming that I take commissions from the Stars coach’s salary, to commissions on the coach’s rent, comparing me to the devil, taking bribes for national team call-ups are just a few of the outrageous lies this newspaper has published about me.

“Until such a time that I make these people answer for the false claims about me they will not stop and that time is coming soon.

“I want all Ghanaians to disregard this publication and newspaper because they only publish personal agendas not the truth.”
