GFA Deputy General Secretary exposed in Techiman

The Division One League match between B/A United (Apostles of power soccer)
and Universal Stars of Techiman in Zone 1B saw the bad side of Ghana
football where the qualification of George Afriyie's Unity FC according to
SportsInGhana.com thorough investigation, was achieved not on merit.

Were the Division One League Board concerned with and wanted fair play, they
would have followed the various games critically because before the matches,
we had information which was confirmed by a report on Ghanaweb of potential
match-fixing in the Berekum Match where Berlin FC were hosting Unity FC.

Critical investigation by our news team added to positive analysis can
confirm the Ghanaweb story as true because despite Berlin boasting the best
home record before last Sunday, their home invincibility was as strong as
rock, got walloped 3-0 by Unity FC on the last match day, which happened to
be the decider, it must clearly send the alarm bells ringing to the Division
One League Board.

l was at Techiman to watch the B/A United against Universal Stars game in
which the away team needed a win to qualify. But they lost 1-0 as a result
of bad officiating due to the influence of certain personalities at GFA.
When was the last time fans of Universal Stars saw their so-called Accra
representative, Mr Ampem Darko, the GFA deputy general secretary travelling
all the way from the nation’s capital to Techiman to watch their matches?

The match in question was not even tough and crucial for Universal for Ampim
Darko to be there and l even thought he was there for some assignment as
match commissioner or something else. I monitored him throughout the game
constantly receiving phone calls every minute from a person known to only
him.

When the game finally ended, his final words on his last phone call was ''ye
awie,'' meaning we have finished.

My investigations further revealed that for beating B/A United, Universal
Stars received a gift of two sets of jerseys and GH?2,500 from a source
known to them only.

Even a sports presenter Samuel Otu of Kumasi was at Techiman because of
Unity and he gave information on the game not to his radio station but where
his stomach is.

It is a shame for if a sports presenter acts like this in our game, then
Ghana football is doomed. Instead of helping us to condemn this mafia canker
in our game, he supported it because of his stomach.

B/A United CEO Ransford Kofi Yeboah need not worry for he has done well by
sending the team this far despite his short period with the club and l know
as he has promised me he won’t quit and he will triumph next time.

He should know that our local football has become so bad that that if you
are not a member of the GFA Executive Committee, you can't compete to reach
the top.
