Ghana Football Association Executive Council elections candidate Kingsley Osei Bonsu says he will lead the crusade to improve on security at match centres when elected.
Osei Bonsu, known in football circles as Lord Zico, is running on the ticket of Bechem United to be elected for one of the five slots available to Premier League clubs on the second-highest decision-making body of the football regulatory body in the country.
The Bechem United top administrator has served on the leadership council previously and wants to be given the opportunity to serve again.
During his first spell on the body, he championed the introduction of the inner perimeter at match centres in Ghanaian lower-tier football.
This time round, he is gunning for the position to be able to lead the reforms to tighten security at match venues.
“Currently we have issues of match attendance and low patronage in our leagues and I believe one of the main challenges attributing to that is issues of security. We need to critically look at that area of the sport and how it affects patronage,” he told Ghana Sports Online.
“So just as I championed the introduction of inner perimeters at the Division One League levels and we successfully achieved it. I will also lead this process to ensure that we improve on security to 1. boost the confidence of players, match officials to give their best. But, most importantly we cannot do away with supporters. If you want maximum patronage of our products, we have to ensure maximum security and ensure a friendly atmosphere for everybody, I mean every football lover who enters into a match centre and I’m going to lead this campaign when I go on the ExCo.,” he added.
