GFA Elections: Randy Abbey reveals why he didn’t contest presidency

Former GFA spokesperson, Randy Abbey has disclosed that his personal commitment and colleagues aspiring for the topmost position in Ghana football barred him from contesting for the presidency.

Randy Abbey, who doubles as a TV Host on Metropolitan television in the nation’s capital, will be vying for a position on the Executive Council contrary to the expectations of well wishers and some stakeholders of football in the country.

The Heart of Lions bank roller who is regarded as one of the best brains in football administration was expected to contest the upcoming GFA presidential elections based on his experience gained from serving in the erstwhile administration interlaced with his manifold wisdom which was demonstrated at the GFA Congress held at the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Sikka FM, he revealed why he chose to contest at the Executive Council level instead of the topmost job.

“I didn’t contest the Presidency due to some personal commitment and the colleagues that are aspiring” he concluded.

The elections which will be supervised by the Normalization Committee – whose mandate has been extended to November 17 – has been slated for October 25.
