GFA Executive Committee members sworn into office

Accra, Aug. 5, GNA - The newly elected Executive Committee Members o= f the Ghana Football Association (GFA) were on Friday sworn into office for a four-year tenure. The swearing-in of the Executive members was the highlight of the Association's two-day Ordinary Congress which ended on Friday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Dangme West District of the Greater Accra Region.

With the exception of the Eastern Region, where the Regional Football Association's election has been held back due to a court injunction, all the 21-newly elected officials including the GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi too= k the oath of office. The oath of office was administered by GFA Honorary President, Justice (Rtd) Alexander Kobina Baah Ampiah in the presence of the membership of Congress. Clement Kofi Humado, Minister of Youth and Sports commended the GFA fo= r the fruitful session, whilst pledging Government's continues support to w= ork closely with the Association to develop football in the country. Nyantakyi assured of his commitment to the development of the game at all levels on his second tenure as the head of the nation's football governing body.

The highest legislative decision-making body of the GFA also discussed issues relating to the development of the game from all aspects, which is aimed towards achieving desirable goals. As a novelty, the membership of Congress was segmented into groups to review critical areas affecting the game at all levels. The groups made recommendations on their respective areas of operation taking into consideration the four-year tenure of office, thus making the session interactive. On attendance at the Congress, Nyantakyi promised that the Association will accommodate and bear the cost of each delegate attending the session t= o encourage future participation. The President of the GFA urged stakeholders of the sport to support th= e Association towards achieving its target.
