George Akwasi Afriyie, the vice president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has asked the media to be grateful in securing the broadcasting deal with StarTimes.
The GFA announced a ten year deal with the Chinese broadcasting firm worth $17,950,000 and included the building of 10 new astro-turf pitch.
The media and a section of the Ghanaian public have questioned the deal which will see StarTimes broadcast the premier league, FA cup, Division one league, Women league, Women FA cup and Elite football league.
But GFA Veep speaking in an interview with Nyhira FM asked the media to pat the association in the back after coming in for criticism due to lack of sponsorship for the 2015-16 season.
“I sometimes don’t understand the Ghanaian media because they were all calling on the FA to secure a sponsorship for the League.” George told Nhyira FM.
“We have been able to get a ten years sponsorship deal with StarTimes and here are the same media blaming us that the deal cannot be trusted.
He added, “I will urge the media to support the FA because without sponsors it will be difficult for us to run the league. Let us all appreciate what StarTimes are willing to do for us,”
