Kumasi, Sept 24, GNA -- A supporter of the national football team, the Black Stars and a human rights activist in Kumasi has cautioned the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to be careful about the registration of Charles Taylor by Accra Hearts of Oak.
He said the caution was very crucial because Taylor's transfer saga from Hearts to Kumasi Asante Kotoko some years back was still fresh in the minds of most sports loving citizens of the country.
Mr Robert Coffie Snr, who spoke to the GNA Sports in Kumasi on Saturday, said the former administration under Ben Kouffie ordered Hearts to go by FIFA's ruling and pay Kotoko an amount of 850 million cedis which they erroneously took from GFA.
He recounted that the GFA sought FIFA's directives before giving the order to Hearts, but Hearts refused to pay the money thus abusing bringing about disrespect to the rules and regulations of the game. =93This serious issue is still pending at the offices of the GFA and the administrators of Kotoko are watching with due respect as to what the GFA would do about the case.
The sporting world can hardly understand why Hearts has deliberately invaded Kotoko's camp again to register Charles Taylor to foment trouble because Kotoko's agreement with the Tunisian Club, Etoile du Sahel binds Taylor to return to Kotoko when his stay with them is over', he added.
Mr Coffie said, "The million-dollar question on the lips of everybody is whether the new GFA will register Taylor to generate another marathon of litigation in Ghana soccer, since the GFA has a reputation to protect".
The sports enthusiast commended the GFA for getting a coach for the Black Stars and also for ensuring the promotion of good soccer administration in the country.
Mr Coffie reminded Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi and Mr Kofi Nsiah, President and General Secretary of the GFA that they had an image to protect in view of the recent World Cup achievement chalked by the Black Stars and urged them to do their best to avoid tendencies that would bring their office into disrepute.
