Football club owners have bemoaned the financial impact of Anas’ investigation unearthing the corruption in football administration in the country.
According to club owners, the expose`, which led to subsequent initiation of steps to dissolve the football governing body thus Ghana Football Association by government, is hurting their investment.
A statement issued after a meeting by some premier league club owners states that “We view this situation with regret and extreme embarrassment as it has brought our game into disrepute”.
“As club owners who have invested significant sums to build our teams to the highest levels including playing facilities, we are also incurring financial losses. We agree that our league needs significant restructuring to bring about greater discipline and better financial rewards to all stakeholders.”
The club owners also stated in the release that “We want to take our destiny into our hands as club owners. In the coming days, we hope to bring together all club owners in consultation with GHALCA to chart a new course and put together the blueprint for a restructured football league for the consideration of all stakeholders”.
