Chairman of the Black Stars management committee, George Afriyie has denied claims the GFA owe Avram Grant and that has caused his prolonged stay away from the country.

Ghana is set to play Congo on the 1st of September in an exhibition match before taking on the Amavubi of Rwanda in Kigali four days later.

The game against Congo is meant to officially open a 60,000 capacity stadium purposely built for the hosting of the 2015 All Africa Games, whiles the game against Rwanda is the all-important AFCON 2017 qualifier.

With barely two weeks to these games coach Avram Grant is yet to arrive in the country with many attributing his reluctance to return due to unpaid remunerations due him.

But George Afriyie who is Chairman of the management committee of the Black Stars says, the Ghana Football Association have no outstanding salary issue with the former Chelsea boss.

“We have to be fair to Mr Grant because during the discussions to appoint him he made very clear that his decision to coach the Black Stars had nothing to do with money,” Afriyie told Citi Sports

“As far as I am concerned the Ghana Football Association does not owe the coach.”

Grant is expected to arrive in Ghana on Sunday before naming his team for the double header.
