GFA rejects Appiah's choice of two local coaches for tech. dir. job

A choice of two indigenous coaches recommended by head coach of the Black Stars James Kwasi Appiah to be considered for the technical director's job have been feasibly rejected by the Ghana Football Association, Ghanasportsonline.com can confirm.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday instituted a three-man committee to appoint a technical adviser for the Black Stars following a review of the technical direction of the team.

The three-man committee is headed by the GFA vice-president Fred Crentsil who will work with Fred Pappoe and Francis Oti Akenteng. The committee is expected to closely work with Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah to hunt for a technical person capable of steering the national team in the right direction.

At the meeting, the executive committee gave room to the head coach of the Black stars to make a proposition of two technical men to be considered and subsequently appointed for the role.

Ghanasportsonline.com can reveal that, coach Kwasi Appiah has opted for two local coaches, with Ghana Football Association technical director Francis Oti Akenten and technical committee member Sam Addy filling up his choices.

Coach Kwasi Appiah is believed to have made consultations with former GFA boss and CAF instructor Ben Koufie, former stars coach Emmanuel Afranie and other top technical men in the countries before the final decisions on his choices were reached.

But Ghanasportsonline.com can exclusively confirm that the head coach has practically been informed by the Ghana Football Association that his choices would not be considered for the job. The three-member committee will send its report to the Executive Committee next week but sources close to the committee have revealed that a choice for the role has roughly been decided.

"The coach was given the privilege of recommending two of the technical people he thinks he wants them to be considered for the job but that doesn't mean that his choice will be considered", the source said.

"He himself, he knows the choice has been decided and the committee is just putting up finishing touches to the appointment to be made next week but of course he would be duly notified before the announcement is made. We will sit down with him on that".

The Football House, Ghanasportsonline has gathered, will announce their choice of a technical director to the coach before an official naming is done next week.
