Ghana FA vice-president George Afriyie has revealed a new Black Stars coach will be announced latest April.

The Ghana FA are in the hunt for Avram Grant's successor with over 100 coaches having applied for the top job.

The six-man committee tasked with finding the new man will announce a short-list of coaches latest next week before scheduling a rigorous interview session.

"We are still in the process of naming our new coach and latest by April I can assure you we will have a new coach," Afriyie told Accra-based Asempa FM

"They will be shortlisted and go through an interview procedure before we settle on the new man.

"The committee will make recommendation to the Executive Committee who will have the final say on the report.

"They can either approve or reject what we present to them. So lets be patient and wait a little longer."

Widespread media reports have claimed Sudan-based Kwesi Appiah will be handed the job for the second time.

Appiah, a former Kotoko great, has received ringing endorsements from high-profile personalities in the country to be handed the new role.

But the FA has insisted it will not buckle under pressure to give the job to him.

The position became vacant following the exit of former Chelsea coach Avram Grant.
