GFA unveils fixtures for 2024/25 Women’s Premier League season

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially released the fixtures for the 2024/25 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season, which is set to kick off on Friday, October 18, 2024.

The competition will once again be divided into two zones: Northern and Southern, featuring a lineup of thrilling matchups. Fans across the country are eager to witness the exciting battles between top women’s football clubs as they vie for the championship title.

In the Northern Zone, Kumasi Sports Academy will host Supreme Ladies in their opening match, while Dreamz Ladies travel to Tamale Super Ladies.

Northern Ladies will clash with FC Savannah, while Fosu Royal Ladies will battle Sung Shinning Ladies. Prisons Ladies will square off with Ampem Darkoa Ladies on MatchDay 1 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

In the Southern Zone, Ladystrikers FC will host Police Ladies, Hasaacas Ladies will be at home to Berry Ladies, Soccer Intellectuals will travel to Army Ladies, Epiphany Warriors will battle Faith Ladies, while Jonina Ladies will welcome Halifax Queens on MatchDay 1.

The first round of the season will commence on the weekend of October 18-21, 2024, and end on the weekend of January 24-27, 2025, with the second round set to begin from January 31-February 3, 2025, and end on the weekend of April 11-14, 2025.

The Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League will also go on break in the lead-up to the December 7, 2024, National Elections to enable players and officials to travel across the country to fulfill their civic duty and responsibility. Other rest periods in the season include Christmas and New Year breaks and dates for the 2024/25 Women’s FA Cup matches to be honored.

The grand finale between winners of the Northern Zone and Southern Zone is also set for the weekend of May 2-5, 2025. The early May completion of the league will greatly assist the eventual winner in the WAFU B Champions League qualifying competition.
