The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association Ibrahim Sannie Daara has revealed that henceforth the Football Association will be appointing referees for matches for the 2017/2018 Ghana Premier League Season.
While speaking during an interview with Angel TV's Esther Abankwa on their Sports Program on the Turf over the weekend, Sannie Daara observed that in order to curtail the suspicion of corruption in the Ghana Premier League due to the actions of some referees, the FA would no longer be taking the list from the Referees Association of Ghana but would be doing its own selection.
Sannie Daara further revealed that the FA will appoint a Referees Manager to handle that.
"One of the things we would also be doing this season is that we would set up a young training program to encourage children to go in to refereeing. This will help us get more referees in the system. They would be under the control of the FA", he said.
Sannie Daara further added that referees will now be earning between Ghc 600-700 per match this season.
He disclosed that they would be introducing some new technology this season too.
