The vice president of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Isaac Koomson has revealed the G6 start will depend on the commencement of the Premier League.

GHALCA has explained that the motive of the G6 is to prepare the clubs for the new season and that purpose will be defeated if the clubs play in the competition and have to wait for one or two months before the Premier League kicks off.

The Ghana FA initially announced December 20 as the tentative start date for the Premier League, but as a result of pending legal cases involving Techiman City, WA African United, Tema Youth and Dreams FC, the kick off time is in limbo.

“The truth of the matter is that we don’t see the league starting soon. We don’t want to have clubs participating and later breaking down.

“The aim of the competition is to prepare ahead of the league. But since the league is not starting anytime soon we can't start, but still talking to the clubs”, he told Starr Sports.

Clubs expected to play in the competition includes Ashanti Gold, Aduana Stars, Asante Kotoko, Berekum Chelsea, Medeama SC and Hearts of Oak.
