GHALCA Members Happy With Mallam's Exit

Some officials of the Ghana League Clubs Association- GHALCA have described the exit of the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mallam Yusif Issa, as a blessing to the administration of sports in Ghana.

According to them, even before he assumed office, the 40-year old freight forwarder showed signs of naivety, which was clearly demonstrated during the parliamentary vetting. The GHALCA officials said his continued stay in office could have damaged Ghana's already soiled international sporting image.

The nomination and subsequent appointment of Mallam Yusif Issah, popularly known as Insha Allah, was met with scepticism as a result of his inability to articulate his own views during the vetting.

Barely a week after assuming office, Mallam Issa led the Black Stars to Sudan for a crucial World Cup qualifier which, the Stars lost by a lone goal. But the disclosure of the missing money meant for the payment of winning bonuses to the team and his failure to report the loss to the President and other officials resulted in his dismissal.
