Ghana Oil Company limited, GOIL, has reached a partnership deal to sponsor Ghana’s two leading soccer clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The deal will see Ghana’s leading Oil marketing Company extend financial support valued at GHC480,000 to each of the two clubs for a 12-month contract duration.
By the agreement, the two clubs will be paid 40 thousand cedis each monthly and will benefit from a monthly supply of fuel from GOIL
The managing Director of GOIL who gave the details at a media briefing in Accra explained the package will be used for player welfare in the form of allowances, adding GOIL is determined to support the local league and promote rich talent among the youth.
“Our interest is to support the local league which we believe will eventually benefit talent development and strengthen the cash strapped clubs, he said.
Mr. Akorli also explained GOIL chose Kotoko and Hearts because they are the country’s leading clubs and supporting them to succeed would eventually help rub off other teams in terms of increased patronage and enhanced gate proceeds. Per the agreement, the two clubs will display GOIL Logo at the back their jerseys and also display the company’s Logo and products on pitch panels at the clubs’ home match grounds.
The general manager of Kotoko, Opoku Nti, was elated with the support from GOIL and promised to use the support to improve the development of the game.
On behalf of Hearts, a management board member of the club, Vincent Sowah Odotei, was grateful of the support and promised follow the dictates of the agreement hoping it will help promote the local league.
In attendance was GOIL Brand Ambassador Barimah Azumah Nelson who used the opportunity to ask the clubs and their fans to patronize the products of company .
Per the deal, Hearts and Kotoko will display GOIL logo and products on four pitch panels at club’s home matches.
Hearts and Kotoko display GOIL Logo and Products on two pitch panels at all club’s training sessions.
Both clubs will display GOIL logo at the back of clubs official jerseys.
