Hearts of Oak edged out Young Apostles in a thrilling game to earn their first away win of the season.

The Phobians recorded a narrow 2-1 victory over the debutants at the Wenchi Stadium on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Three second-half goals settled the match after a scoreless first half, with Hamza Issah's goal being ruled out for handball.

After a goal was disallowed in the first half, Hearts eventually took the lead three minutes into the second half through Emmanuel Amankwah.

Amankwah put the Rainbow lads ahead by connecting with a low cross from the right side and finding the roof of the net with his shot from inside the box.

The home team, in an attempt to maintain their unbeaten home record, took the game to Hearts but had to wait until the 83rd minute to finally equalise.

Samuel Prempeh levelled the score with a Goal-of-the-season contender, an incredible bicycle kick from the edge of the box, beating goalkeeper Benjamin Asare who was off his line.

Young Apostles could not hold onto the draw as Hearts of Oak regained the lead just two minutes after the restart through striker Hamza Issah.

Issah scored a brilliant volley after receiving a teasing ball from Sanni Mohammed, who skillfully manoeuvred his way around two players.

The stunning goal proved to be the winner as Hearts of Oak secured their second win of the season. They have climbed to 8th place on the table with 8 points after six games, while Young Apostles have dropped into the relegation zone following the defeat.

Hearts of Oak will be looking to extend their winning streak when they visit Dreams FC on matchday 7, while Young Apostles will aim to get back to winning ways when they visit Accra Lions.
