Asante Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw by newly promoted Young Apostles in their Ghana Premier League clash on Sunday at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
Young Apostles took the lead through Daniel Lomotey, who found the net in the 51st minute. Despite Kotoko's dominating possession, they struggled to break down their opponents' defence.
However, Emmanuel Antwi came to Kotoko's rescue with a 79th-minute equalizer, salvaging a point for the home side.
Kotoko enjoyed 67% of the ball but struggled to turn that into chances, managing only one shot on target compared to Young Apostles' two.
Though Kotoko registered 156 total attacks and 130 dangerous ones, their inability to finish in front of goal proved costly.
Young Apostles, with just 33% possession, created a few chances of their own and put up a strong fight.
This result means Kotoko failed to secure consecutive wins, leaving them with work to do ahead of their next match against Berekum Chelsea.
For Young Apostles, the search for a first league win continues as they prepare to face Aduana FC in their next fixture.
Both teams will need improvements moving forward in what is shaping up to be a competitive season.
