GPL matchday eight preview: Super Clash headlines week action

Hearts vs Kotoko tomorrow Hearts vs Kotoko tomorrow

The Hearts vs Kotoko derby is one of eight matches expected in the topflight between Saturday and Monday

Without any gainsaying, Hearts of Oak's clash with bitter rivals Asante Kotoko sits as the top-liner as the Ghana Premier League enters matchday eight this weekend.

The two sides, ninth and second on the table respectively, are all but set for their epic showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

But what are the other games?

Tied on points with Kotoko at the top of the table but advantaged by a better goal record, Aduana Stars must pick maximum points in their away clash with Ebusua Dwarfs to avoid the possibility of relinquishing their position. This is one of six matches scheduled for Saturday.

Third-placed Bechem United, three points adrift of the top two, face new boys Bolga All Stars at the Utrecht Academy Park in Tamale.

Berekum Chelsea could record their fourth win of the season at the Sogakope Stadium on Saturday, but standing between them are Wafa, who currently occupy the 10th position.

Although having benefitted from a boardroom three points following a successful protest against Bolga All Stars, Great Olympics are still chasing their first win of the season on the pitch. The hunt will likely prolong, at least for another matchday, as the 'Dade' Boys travel to face Medeama at the Tarkwa T&A Park.

Ashanti Gold, 2014-15 champions, face a tricky tie away to newly-promoted Elmina Sharks, who have won two games thus far.

Referee Amofa Sarkodie will be the man at the helm of affairs when Liberty Professionals welcome reigning champions Wa All Stars to the Carl Reindorf Park.

In the last game of matchday eight, Inter Allies and Tema Youth lock horns at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Monday.
