Former Hearts of Oak player, Kofi Kodzi has expressed concerns over low salaries for players in the Ghana Premier League.

Kodzi disclosed to Asempa FM during an interview that GPL players are living subpar lives.

He pointed out that players' low wages are the paramount reason behind the league's high player exodus.

“The Ghana Premier League players as a whole are suffering. All of it is about the low wages. That’s why when some players play in the league small they prefer to go to Togo for better wages to cater for their families."

He suggested that the authorities introduce measures that will involve the government to increase the salaries of the players.

“The salary comes but in some teams too it doesn’t come. Some measures should be put in place so the government can help.”

Player exodus in the Ghana Premier League has been on the high as breakthrough stars sought greener pastures after having a stunning season.

Ghana Football Association vice president, Mark Addo in a previous interview admitted that player exodus has hindered the progress of the league.

"We need a strong local league to get quality players who can feed into our national teams," he told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.

"It is not easy for the clubs but the player exodus is not helping," he added.
