Gambia'05: The Professor vs The Lecturer

Gambia?s Under-17 coach Fred Osam Duodu led his native Ghana to many triumphs in the past before taking on the Gambian challenge and he has vowed not to lose twice to the same team.

Duodu reared most of Ghana?s emerging band of young coaches and one of those who learned at his feet, David Duncan, is the Starlets? head coach looking for a brace of victories over his former boss.

Duodu, who has refused to make any further inflammatory statements in the run-in to the final, had dismissed Duncan as his boy who still had a lot to learn on the eve of the championship.

?Duncan is a lecturer while I?m a professor and I?ll prove to him the difference between a lecturer and a professor when my team meets his. I trained him and I know what he can be up to,? Duodu had said before Duncan silenced him with that victory.

Now Duodu is not saying much before today?s final except that he has prepared his team for a tough game.

?I know how much victory means to the Gambian people and we?ve resolved not to make the same mistakes that led to the first defeat. We won?t lose this one.?
