Former Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Alhaji Raji insists the people advising George Afriyie to contest for the GFA Presidency didn't help his course by rushing him into declaring his intentions to run for the position.

According to Alhaji Raji, the former Vice President of the Football Association, Mr. Afriyie should have thoroughly thought through before coming out to declare his intentions.

George Afriyie stated declared his intention to run for the FA seat on the occasion of his 50th birthday celebrations, at the Mensvic Hotel in March.

His decision has been greeted with divergent views and Alhaji Raji feels "sorry" for the man he calls his "friend".

"Sometimes when I think about George's situation, I feel sorry for him. I have to be honest with you, he is a good friend but I don't think those around him helped him, I'm telling you," Alhaji Raji stressed on Zylofon FM.

"Because, if you want to do something, you have to think backwards and not forward. Look, when announcement came he was been chosen as Vice President, some people didn't like it," he added.

"I was then the GHALCA Chairman, he came to me, I said look everybody with his destiny. It is by the works of God that you are the Vice President now so lets support him,"

"It is the system that has brought about all these hiccups," he concluded.

The elections for the next Football Association President is next year but some other names has also popped up with Nana Yaw Amponsah, owner of Phar Rangers, another candidate to declare his intentions of running for the position.
