Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice president George Afriyie has denied that he was in the Brong Ahafo Region to start his campaign for next year’s GFA top post.

Reports went viral on Wednesday that Afriyie stormed Brong Ahafo Region and met top hierarchy of clubs and shared his vision ahead of the upcoming election.

However, Afriyie confirmed that he was in Brong Ahafo but it wasn’t because of the FA elections.

“Last week I posted on my Facebook wall that, I will be in the Kumasi to represent the FA for Kotoko CAF Confederation Cup against CARA Club,” Afriyie told Asempa FM.

He continued, “After the Kotoko game I went to Brong Ahafo to meet my friends, so as I got there I was told Berekum Arsenal CEO Yakubu Moro is not feeling so I decided to visit him. After visiting him I drove back to Kumasi and board my flight to Accra, so it wasn’t true I was in Brong Ahafo to campaign for the GFA elections.”

The incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi has already declared that he will not seek for re-election when the GFA elections comes off next year.
