The former Chairman of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), Mr. George Haldane Lutterodt, has dared the GAA, to come out with evidence indicating that, Youth Olympic Gold medalist, Martha Bissah is stranded in the United States of America (USA).
The 800 meter runner Bissah secured a scholarship from the Norfolk State University in Virginia and there are reports from the GAA indicating that the scholarship secured by the former chairman Mr. Lutterodt may have left the athlete stranded in the US because she does not qualify for such a scholarship.
The former Chairman has therefore dared the GAA to come out with facts and evidence rather than hiding and spewing allegations to the public.
He’s however positive that, Bissah will be cleared by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) soon.
According to him, Bissah is doing well and training “why this orchestrated campaign against her,” Mr. Lutterodt asked.
“The school is not happy with what is going on. They should stop undermining her. The girl is happy where she is and they say she is stranded, they should bring evidence. I want someone to prove to me that Martha is not in school,” he said.
Mr. Lutterodt stressed, it is bad on the part of GAA to treat Bissah unfairly saying “what is happening hasn’t occurred before in Athletics. I and former GAA chairmen including Sandy Osei Agyemang haven’t seen this before. It is bad for GAA to behave as such towards the girl. Of course, associations has the right to punish athletes but in Martha’s case she has not offended the association in anyway".
He mentioned that “Martha is already under an indefinite suspension from the association so why are they undermining the poor girl?
