Ghanaian midfielder Gershon Koffie is in line to make his return for Vancouver Whitecaps after a two-month absence ahead of their MLS Cup playoffs at San Jose.
The 23-year-old has been out of action for more than six-weeks with a sprained foot.
Whitecaps have been boosted the return of full fitness of the Ghanaian ahead of the trip to Jose.
He has admitted the past two months have been a frustrating time for him.
“Me watching the team when I was out was not a good feeling, but the team has been winning, so I’m happy,” Koffie said.
“I’ve been working on my fitness since being out of the boot and it’s only the club’s physical coaches that can measure my fitness, but I feel good.
“My ambition is to play or to be in the 18. I’ve been working towards it, but it’s up to the coaches to put me in the 18. My main focus is here, making the playoffs with the Whitecaps.”
The young West African is in contention to be in Vancouver’s 18-man roster for Saturday night’s crucial encounter at San Jose Earthquakes, with the Whitecaps holding on to the fifth and final playoff spot in the MLS Western Conference by a single point from Pacific Northwest rivals Portland Timbers.
