Accra, July 12, GNA - Ghana's Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 26th Cup of Nations, dubbed Ghana 2008 has congratulated the London Olympic Bid for their successful biding and winning of the rights to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
A statement signed by Dr Kofi Amoah, Chairman of the LOC for Ghana 2008 copied to the GNA Sports to the British High Commissioner in Ghana praised London for their impressive victory of 54 to 50 votes ahead of their counterparts from Paris.
Dr Amoah attributed the London bid's success to hard work and a carefully worked out programme, which was helped by the backdrop that the last time the Games were held in Britain was way back in 1948.
The statement said whilst wishing them success in their endeavour to organise and hosting of a successful Olympiad, "it is our hope that we can draw inspiration from your works as we are also working towards our organising and hosting the CAN 2008 African Soccer fiesta".
The statement also took the opportunity to console Londoners on the dastardly act of bombing that shook London a day after winning the bid, which claimed several lives and left scores injured.
The LOC joined the whole nation and those of the world at large in consoling the City of London on the cowardly act that has been condemned worldwide.
It concluded by wishing Lord Sebastian Coe, Chairman of the London Bid Committee and his entire team a 'well done' for a good work done whilst at the same time sympathising with Londoners over the bombing in the hearts of the historic city.
