Beach soccer club managers, association executives, officials and other key stakeholders have met in Accra ahead of their congress.

The gathering lasted almost three hours at the home of beach soccer, Laboma Beach resort in La.

In attendance were the President of the association, the Vice, assistant national team coach, protocol officer, the organising secretary and representatives from beach soccer clubs.

Head of beach soccer development Mr Albert Frimpong said the brainstorming was an important gathering to move beach soccer to another level in 2017 and beyond.

For the first time, the Confab was attended by the management of Laboma Pleasure Beach resort including its chairman Mr Sam Okpoti and his management team.

The La Traditional Council was represented by the association's Vice president Mr Fred Afful who also serves on the Council.

Also present was the CEO of three-time league champions Keta Sunset, Reuben Dzidodoe Adjaho.

A number of critical issues were discussed including expansion of the league to other coastal territories such as the Western, Central and Volta regions, sponsorship, infrastructure and broadcasting possibilities.

On the potential of beach soccer matches being telecast, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah revealed that talks are on going with a major international network to partner beach soccer as official broadcast partners.

Meanwhile Mr Albert Frimpong who is a co-founder of Ghana beach soccer, has been tasked with presenting a report to the GBSA on formulating new policies and structures to strengthen the existing template of beach soccer ahead of congress.

One of the biggest challenges confronting beach soccer is funding as the association survives on a meagre 44,000 Ghana cedis a season from headline sponsor Cal Bank as a corporate social responsibility package

The President of GBSA said he's confident of sponsorship increment from CAL Bank this season.

He once again called on corporate Ghana to come onboard to help develop the sport and compliment the fantastic commitment of CAL Bank since the maiden league season in 2011.
