Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has hailed the leadership qualities of Asamoah Gyan, describing him as a ‘unifier’.
Gyan, 28, was appointed captain of the Black Stars in 2012 by current coach Kwesi Appiah.
The Al Ain ace has guided the team to qualify for a third straight World Cup berth and Ghana FA boss has been thrilled by his leadership role.
“Asamoah Gyan is a great captain. He’s a unifier and someone whose commitment to the Black Stars cannot be questioned,” he said.
“Kwesi Appiah’s decision to hand him the armband has been perfect. He has shown it and I’m confident he can lead this team to achieve something great.
“There are some leaders who lead others with how they play and others with words, but for Gyan it is both.
“He brings a lot to the group and really is a true captain in every way because he always respects the decisions of others despite being the captain,” he stressed.
