Ghana FA boss lauds Franceville venue for Nations Cup success

Ghana have been placed at the best venue for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, according to FA president Kwasi Nyantakyi.

The Black Stars will be based in Franceville to play debutants Botswana and fellow West African neighbours Guinea and Mali in Group D.

The Gabonese city has been described as serene and an isolated area which is perfect setting to plot Ghana’s fifth African title.

“I think it’s an advantage to have your team in Franceville,” Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi told the BBC.

“There will be the serenity of atmosphere, there will be the quietness to concentrate on your preparations.

“There will be very little interference, very little disturbance…and I think we should exploit that to the fullest.”

The Black Stars open their account with an interesting game against Botswana on 24 January.
