Ghana FA rules out interfering in World Cup player selection

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has ruled out any possibility of getting involved player selection for this year’s FIFA World Cup finals.

Former Ghana coach Claude Le Roy had earlier in the week raised the red flag that top officials are likely to impose their players on head coach Kwesi Appiah.

But the Football Association has been quick to water down that suspicion and claims the coach has a free hand to choose his players. “We the FA have never and will never get involved in player selection matters that is for the Coach,” Ghana FA Vice-President Fred Crentsil told GHANASoccernet.com.

“We have our duties we owe the team, and player selection are that of the Coach it’s as simple as that.

“The ultimate aim of the FA is to serve Ghanaians and ensure we all chalk success and we are ever ready to ensure that we continue to aid the coach and give him the required space he needs to operate effectively.”

Ghana face a tough assignment in Group G against USA, Germany and Portugal.
