Tema, Sept. 7, GNA - This year's Ghana-Korea Friendship Marathon race would be held at Tema on Saturday, September 19.
Mr David Copperfield Atsu, Coordinator of the event, who announced this at Tema on Monday, said about 200 people are expected to participate in the 16 kilometre race which is in its sixth year. He said the event is aimed at strengthening the already existing cordial relationship between the two countries and also to unearth talents to participate in international events for the nation. The race, which is being organized by the Korean Residents Association in Ghana, would start at the Tema Sports Stadium through the Polyclinic Roundabout to the Tema General Hospital road through to the Harbour Road and then end at the starting point. Mr Atsu said raffle tickets would be presented to all the participants to enable them enter into a draw at the end of the two-hour race.
Among the dignitaries expected to participate in the race are Mr Rashid Pelpuo, acting Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Kempes Ofosu Ware, Tema Municipal Chief Executive and some officials of the National Sports Council.
The first 10 and seven winners in the male and female divisions would receive attractive prizes.
