Ghana Ladies miss out on Handball gold

Ghana Ladies missed out on the Handball gold at the ongoing Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Games after losing 12-27 to Cote d’Ivoire in the finals on Tuesday.

The Black Hands were outplayed by their Ivorian counterparts, who had earlier beaten them at the preliminary stage.

The Ivorians started on a bright note and their fast passing game made matters worse for the Ghanaians, who appeared jittery and uncoordinated in the game plan.

The visitor’s maintained their dominance of the game to cruise to a famous victory, which incidentally represents Cote d’Ivoire’s only gold medal at the ongoing sub-regional Games.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s Male team will battle Benin in the Handball final on Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium after they trilled the partisan home fans in a highly contested game against the Togo team who matched their Ghanaian counterparts before succumbing to the host in a 21 - 30 scoreline .

The Beninois accounted for Cote d’Ivoire 45-20 to reach the finals in the semi final clash on Wednesday.

The Ivorians will thus battle fellow Francophone Togo in the battle for bronze also on Thursday.**
