In the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, Ghana moved two places up to the 57th. The world ranking revealed the dominance of European and South American countries in world soccer as no African country was among the first 20.

Africa’s bright spot, Tunisia previously ranked 22nd slipped further down to 25th with South Africa placing 30th and Morocco 31st.

France still lead the table, but somehow Brazil remain in second - just ahead of South American rivals Argentina.

Meanwhile, Ghana now places 9th on the African Soccer ranking table moving a step up from its previous 10th position.

Ghana’s ranking on the continent could be better enhanced depending on her performance in international grade A matches played.

Next year’s African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Mali would be a contributory factor in the positioning of Ghana and all other African countries in future rankings.

According to world soccer’s controlling body, FIFA, Tunisia still maintain their hold as Africa’s number one followed closely by South Africa and Morocco in second and third position.

Defending African champions, Cameroon, are fourth with Nigeria ranking fifth. Somalia, Djibouti and Seychelles remain at the bottom.
