Ghana Post (GP) Company Limited is to support the national team, the Black Stars, to the World Cup by raising funds from the sale of commemorative stamps.
In addition, the company will on Thursday, May 18, 2006, launch a quiz on the commemorative stamps.
In an interview in Accra, the managing director of Ghana Post, Mr Kofi Dua-Adonteng, said the move was a way of offering each Ghanaian the opportunity to support the national team to the World Cup in Germany next month.
Mr Dua-Adonteng said the programme had delayed till this time because the proposal to make the special stamps had to go to FIFA for approval, saying the approval was received just last week, although Ghana Post had planned to release the stamps in February, this year.
He said the stamps would have both pictures and the logo of the Black Stars, an arrangement which he said had been agreed upon by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Ghana Post.
