Ghana Premier League FLOP XI: Cosmos Dauda, Kofi Owusu, Eric Ofori Antwi

Players who failed to live up to expectation this season Players who failed to live up to expectation this season

The Ghana Premier League ended last Sunday with pundits selecting their best performers for the season.

But GHANASoccernet.com's Nuhu Adams concentrates on the players who failed to reach their potential this season.

Some showed glimpses last season and were a shadow of themselves.

GOALKEEPER

Eric Ofori Antwi (Medeama SC)

With first choice goalkeepers Daniel Agyei and Muntari Tagoe leaving Medeama SC at the end of last season, Ofori Antwi was tipped to the club's number one after joining them from Asante Kotoko SC.

Even though he had contractual issues with the club, he lost his place to then third choice goalie Yaw Ansah Fufuro after a few starts.

DEFENCE

Christopher Bonney (Ebusua Dwarfs)

A lot was expected from the right back this season after his exploits last season where he scored four goals with some incredible displays.

Shockingly, Christopher Bonney had been benched as the coach preferred Isaac Kwain which made the former Asante Kotoko SC defender had few starts this season.

Edwin Tuffour Frimpong (Asante Kotoko SC)

As a regular and key left back for the Porcupine Warriors, many expected to see more from him this season but that wasn't case.

Despite not being regular this term, right back Amos Frimpong was the preferred choice whenever Eric Donkor is absent for a fixture.

Francis Debrah (Berekum Chelsea)

After an exciting campaign by the centre back last time, he was tipped to partner Nicholas Opoku at the heart of defence for Berekum Chelsea after the exit of Richard Adjei.

Unknowingly, Wahab Ahadzi was chosen over him at the beginning of the season. Halfway in the season, Nicholas Opoku moved to overseas yet Francis Debrah failed to land a starting place. Zackaria Fuseini took his position.

Richard Osei Agyemang (Asante Kotoko SC)

As one of the best performers in the red colours for a particular season, fans and pundits will definitely demand more from you next time.

The centre back failed to live up to expectations after being the last man in the central defence pecking order of the Porcupine Warriors this season.

MIDFIELD

Malik Akowuah (Hearts of Oak)

With a big money move from Medeama SC at the end of last season, Akowuah has been a shadow of himself as expected from him this season.

Despite being man of match in three occasions, the experienced midfielder admitted in an interview he has been a flop for the Phobians this term.

Saddick Alhassan (Wa All Stars)

This is a midfielder who was an integral member of the league winning campaign last season. He ended the season as one of the best.

The story is different this season after being sent to the bench by David Abagna Sandan and Nasiru Farouk Moro. He saw a few games.

Richard Mpong (Aduana Stars)

Per the experience Mpong possesses, he was expected to be a regular and influential member of the Fire Boys.

He couldn't meet up any of the expectations after playing very few games and also contributing very little in the league championship triumph.

ATTACK

Abass Mohammed (Asante Kotoko SC)

The promising forward was identified as the solution to the striking woes of Asante Kotoko SC ahead of the season after a scintillating performance last season at Medeama SC.

He ended up being the third option in attack this season for the Fabulous Club. He managed only two goals in the entire season.

Kofi Owusu (Ashanti Gold SC)

The 2014/2015 Ghana Premier League top scorer joined the Miners ahead of the season after returning from Egypt's Aswan SC with the hopes of being the leading marksman.

Even though he missed the opening five fixtures of the campaign with an injury, his return to full fitness saw him play a few times. He netted only two goals.

Cosmos Dauda (Hearts of Oak)

Dauda had injuries at the beginning of the season but as the top scorer of the Phobians last season, he was expected to hit the ground running after his recovery.

He had a disappointing campaign looking at the number of starts and goals scored in the season.
