Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) will organise the first ever local league in November.
The league will draw participation from 12 Clubs from two Regional Associations over 12 weeks. The competition expected to end in February 2015, will witness a total of 63 matches.
Two associations, Greater Accra and CentWest, will nominate six teams each to engage on a home and away basis to determine the top two teams that will advance to the semi-finals and finals respectively.
Spokesperson of Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU), Farouk Nettey said, “There is great excitement amongst players, clubs and officials as this will be the first ever professional club tournament.We are, however, under no illusion that the successful planning and running will take a lot of will and effort to achieve our target.’’
An estimated cost of 75,000 dollars is expected to fund the competition.
